As a specialist of Russia, our President Jean-Pierre Thomas has been participating several time at The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is an annual Russian business event for the economic sector, which has been held in St. Petersburg since 1997, and under the auspices of the Russian President since 2005 . Each year, more than 10,000 people from over 120 different countries take part. The Forum brings together the chief executives of major Russian and international companies, heads of state, political leaders, prime ministers, deputy prime ministers, departmental ministers, and governors.
The key purpose of the Forum is to provide a practical tool for business, helping to overcome the barriers, both geographical and informational, dividing Russia and other countries.
The 22nd edition of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) took place from the 24th to the 26th May 2018. Several thousand participants attended.
France and Japan were the guests of honor. Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe inaugurated the summit alongside Vladimir Putin. Many heads of state and ministers and economic actors also participated.
A large delegation of French business leaders led by Pierre Gattaz, President of MEDEF, and Frédéric Sanchez, President of MEDEF International were present.
Jean Pierre Thomas also participated in this edition, he spoke in several discussion groups and conferences about Europe and Russia.

The XXI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held on June 1–3, 2017. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Forum as the Guest of Honour, and also addressed the Forum. This was the first time that an Indian Prime Minister had attended the Forum. also attending was the President of Moldova Igor Dodon, and the Chancellor of Austria Christian Kern
The theme of the forum was “Achieving a New Balance in the Global Economic Arena” which was divided in 5 axis: Dynamics of the Global Economy, Russian Economic Agenda, Focus on the Human Factor, Embracing Tech Disruptors and the Foresight Series.
Jean-Pierre Thomas participated in panel sessions and conferences, he intervened in particular in the panel session on European and Eurasian integration called: « European and Eurasian Integration: Possibilities for a New Interface ».
Tv Russia 24 –SPIEF 2017 – Economic growth in Russia despite sanctions
The XX St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held on June 16–18, 2016. The Forum was attended by more than 12,000 participants from 133 countries; more than 600 heads of Russian companies and approximately 300 foreign executives; and 2,651 media representatives from 700 organizations. The theme for SPIEF 2016 was ‘Capitalizing on the New Global Economic Reality’. More than 300 events were held on the margins of the Forum, including SCO, BRICS, and B20 forums, and a meeting with prominent academics and Nobel Prize winners. Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Guinea Alpha Condé, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker all took part in the Forum alongside other high-ranking personalities and former French president Nicolas Sarkozy.

The XVII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held from June 18 to 20, 2015.The Theme of the SPIEF 2015 was: “Time to Act: Shared Paths to Stability and Growth”. SPIEF included over 150 events, including SCO and the BRICS forums. The Forum program alone offered 84 events: summits, panel discussions, roundtables, briefings, and televised debates. Those present included Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, and heads of state of Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Iraq.
In total, the Forum was attended by over 10,000 participants from 120 countries, including Russia; 486 heads of major Russian companies and 319 heads of international companies. 2,061 media representatives.
